Labradorite
These are uncommon pieces from an unusual one-side-polished Labradorite collection. The larger size of these pieces, in conjunction with the consistency of color intensity arrangements, are unusual for these stones. In the rock industry we call it the “flash quality.”
Labradorite is a feldspar mineral prized for its iridescent play of color, known as labradorescence. While first discovered in Labrador, Canada, some of the world’s finest material now comes from Madagascar. There, it forms within ancient igneous rock formations that cooled slowly enough to allow large, reflective crystals to develop.
Madagascar Labradorite is particularly sought after for its vivid flashes of blue, green, gold, and sometimes violet, which appear to shift as the stone is turned. The island’s deposits are regarded as some of the most vibrant and consistent in the world, making these specimens not only beautiful but also a strong example of Madagascar’s rich geological heritage.
