Enter the Earth in Madagascar:
Our Team & Social Responsibility
Enter the Earth’s roots run deep in Madagascar, where much of our work begins. Our team there is not just the heart of our operations, but family. Many have been with us for over a decade, bringing skill, care, and generational knowledge to the sourcing, cutting, and preparation of mineral specimens.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
For Enter the Earth, social responsibility is not an afterthought — it’s part of who we are. By supporting our team, reinvesting in Malagasy communities, and setting a higher bar for safety and ethics in the industry, we aim to be an example of what sustainable, humanitarian business can look like
OUR STANDARDS
-
Fair Employment: We provide stable, year-round jobs with fair wages, holiday pay, overtime, bonuses, and food stipends. Miners work shortened hours to avoid the extreme heat, with breaks and paid lunch included. We also follow strict labor practices — underage workers are never employed in our mines or factory.
-
Safe Conditions: Our highest priority is safety. Team members receive full PPE — goggles, hard hats, reflective clothing, gloves, steel-toed boots, particle-filtering masks, and hearing protection. In the factory, dust is controlled with fans, air extractors, and water-assisted cutting to protect against silicosis.

SUPPORTING LOCAL ECONOMY
-
Community Partnerships: We collaborate with Malagasy-owned suppliers — many of them family businesses passed down for generations — ensuring that resources and income circulate locally.
-
Skill Development: Training in cutting, polishing, and stone preparation provides our team with long-term career opportunities and valuable expertise.
COMMUNITY COMMITMENT
-
Education: We’ve funded schools in remote mining communities, covering supplies and books for workers’ children, and paying teachers’ salaries by donations.
-
Healthcare: We built and continue to support health clinics near Kabamby and Marovato. The cost of salaries for nurses, midwives, and doctors, along with medical supplies are covered by donations we support.

CONTRIBUTING TO
ESSENTIAL NEEDS
-
Clean Water & Infrastructure: Our projects include funding wells to ensure clean drinking water and building bridges to improve safe travel.
-
Food Security: In response to the devastating 2021 drought, we partnered with Gems of Madagascar and others to deliver more than 11 metric tons of food to 450 families, including rice, beans, root vegetables, fruit, fish, and milk powder.
ENVIRONMENTAL CARE
-
Our mining uses no explosives or chemicals and only shallow excavation. After mining, land is reclaimed by refilling excavated areas and replanting native vegetation like mango and lemon trees.
